The three lineages

GLE · Längle	GLE-International and its national societies — the school of Alfried Längle	Trains Existenzanalytiker. Descends from Frankl but diverged: Frankl was the GLE's honorary chairman from 1985 and resigned in 1991 over Längle's departure from the meaning paradigm. In Austria this is the one route to state registration as a psychotherapist.	Yes, and heavy: on the order of 72 days of group work, 50 hours of self-experience, 150 hours of supervision, 550 hours of practicum.

The distinction that matters most is not between lineages but between a logotherapy credential that sits on top of a clinical licence and one that stands on its own. The first is a licensed clinician using logotherapeutic methods. The second is counselling and education in Frankl's broad sense. Both are legitimate. Conflating them is the field's commonest misrepresentation, and this directory does not do it: the lineage tag tells you which body stands behind a listing, and the body's own site tells you what its people are licensed to do. How we check

Sources. The Vienna "Institutes worldwide" page and its accreditation documents; the US institute's public pages; GLE-International's address list; national bodies found by search in each country's language.
"Verified live" means a page on the body's own domain loaded on the date shown. It does not mean we have assessed the quality of anything. A body without that tag may be perfectly alive — several sites block automated fetching, several are http-only, and several Latin American domains did not resolve from where we checked. They will be re-checked by hand.
Living status. We do not list named contacts in this version. Where the Vienna list names a contact who has died, we say so on the entry rather than repeat it.
Public routes only. No personal phone numbers, private addresses or personal emails, anywhere, ever.

What we found wrong on the Vienna list, September 2026

We say this with respect for the institute: a worldwide list maintained by a small office is hard to keep current. But a directory that people use to find help should not send them to the dead, and we would rather publish the corrections than trade on them.

At least three listed contacts have died — one in 2022, one in 2025, one in May 2026 — and remain listed as live contacts. Their institutes' own websites record the deaths.
One listed Croatian domain has been taken over and now serves a gambling site; the association is alive at a different address, which is the one we link.
At least eight listed domains have moved (France, Turkey, Spain, Switzerland, the US institute's own address) or are no longer indexed anywhere.
Two headings (Uzbekistan, Venezuela) have no entries under them; two (Armenia, Azerbaijan) point to a Georgian body.
Several listed bodies are not training institutes at all — a residential care facility, a couples-counselling practice — and are labelled here by what they actually are.
